Carrie Bradshaw-inspired Sarah Jessica Parker perfume coming soon

Parker has become well-known for her forays into fragrance, past ones such as Lovely and Covet proving popular and so now she’s fusing these successes with her celebrated Sex and the City style. Talking to Women’s Wear Daily, she revealed: “A large part of the inspiration was what I now understand to be people’s impressions of seeing Carrie Bradshaw walk down the street and what feelings that evokes for her and for them — a real sense of freedom and possibilities, a love for the city around her and, of course, fashion.”

To this end, Parker and Coty Prestige set about creating a perfume that is like “a party in a bottle”, something that smelt and looked like it had a “real sense of whimsy, fun and joie de vivre”. And translating this into scent has meant a heady cocktail, comprised of Italian mandarin, wild red strawberries and white osmanthus (top notes), honeysuckle, mimosa, red rose damascenia and gardenia (middle notes) and rum, musk, sandalwood and vanilla (base notes).

Parker notes that the floral quality makes a change from her former fragrances which were more musk heavy, but regardless of the actual whiff of the perfume, it definitely promises to look the part. The bottle will be simple, but the packaging it comes in, a reusable canister, is multi-patterned with animal prints and bold, clashing colours to mirror Carrie’s eclectic and vibrant wardrobe (“The packaging has to fit the juice,” offers SJP).

SJP NYC will be available in three different sizes, prices ranging from $25 for 15 ml. to $49 for 60 ml. and other extras will also hit shelves, including a body lotion and cuff bracelet. Get yours at one of 750 Macy’s stores in February, or wait until May to get it from 1,500 department and boutique shops across the US and 16 other countries. Smells, sorry, sounds good to us.
