Leona Lewis singing the theme song for Avatar
Posted by Team Boxwish 4 months ago
It seems like yonks (yes, we said yonks – go with it) since the last truly great power ballad soundtrack song. So many of the recent musical movie efforts have been a bit more edgy and contemporary, like Adam Lambert’s “For Your Entertainment” from 2012, Death Cab for Cutie’s “Meet Me on the Equinox” for The Twilight Saga: New Moon or Linkin Park’s “New Divide” for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Hell, even that bastion of belters, James Bond even offered us something a little less conventional for last year’s Quantum of Solace by putting Jack White and Alicia Keys together for “Another Way to Die”. Good job then that we’ve got a new James Cameron flick on the horizon as the man who brought us Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” from watery tear-jerker, Titanic has roped in none other than Leona Lewis for the upcoming Avatar. Power ballad heaven here we come!
The British songstress who rose to fame when she won TV talent contest, The X Factor in 2006 (good job she didn’t have to face Jedward back then) and with hits like “Bleeding Love” has developed into an international star. And now she’s gone Hollywood, singing the sci-fi spectacular’s end song titled “I See You” (which makes us remember that scene in Titanic when Kate Winslet tells Leo’s Jack that he sees things and he replies, “I see you”). Like the Celine chart-topper it’s produced by Simon Franglen and film composer, James Horner who picked up an Oscar for his work on Titanic.
Horner is also composing and conducting Avatar’s musical score, which will be released in the US on 15th December (three days before it opens) and a day later, on the 16th internationally.
