Biography: Mia Wasikowska (born October 1989) is an Australian actress, currently working in the United States. She is perhaps best known for her role as Chaya in the Edward Zwick film Defiance. Wasikowska began her acting career in Australia and was nominated for a Young Actress AFI Award for her role in Suburban Mayhem. She starred in several Australian short films, and also appeared in Rogue, an Australian horror movie. Wasikowska appeared in Defiance with Daniel Craig, the indie film That Evening Sun with Hal Holbrook, and then played the role of Elinor Smith, a young female aviator and fan of Amelia Earhart in Amelia, starring Hilary Swank. In July 2008, after a long search, Wasikowska was chosen to play the title role in Tim Burton's interpretation of Alice in Wonderland, alongside Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway.
