Person Information
Name: Gil Birmingham
Biography: Having entered and won a number of bodybuilding competitions in his younger days, it was his beefcake-tastic physique that led Gil Birmingham to experience his first acting role opposite Diana Ross in her 1982 music video "Muscles". Possessing both brain and brawn, the descendant of the Native American Comanche graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California with a degree in Administration and embarked on a career in petrochemical engineering before following the path into acting. Since the Texan actor’s television debut in Riptide (1986), he has starred in over 40 film, television and theatre productions including his most pivotal role of Manny Deadmarsh in The Doe Boy (2001) which won the Sundance International Filmmaker's Award in 2001. Also competing for space on his crowded CV are appearances in Gentle Ben (2002), Gentle Ben 2: Danger on the Mountain (2003), Dreamkeeper (2003), for which he won the award for Outstanding Supporting Role at the 2005 American Indian LA Film and Television Awards, Night at the Museum (2006) and Nip/Tuck (2009). Birmingham plays Billy Black, an elder of the Quileute tribe in Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse.
