Name: Alex Meraz

Biography: Born and bred in Arizona, Alex Meraz has more talent than you can shake a stick at. The multi-faceted performer is a graduate of the New School for the Arts and has himself taught all aspects of art, from mask-making to breakdancing in schools and community centres throughout the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Having studied mixed martial arts for 12 years, he's won numerous karate and capoeira tournaments and trained as a stuntman with the award-winning Andy Cheng. Dancing under the name of Nomak with the indigenous contemporary dance organisation, Dancing Earth (of which he is a founder member), the Native Mexican Indian of the Purepecha (Tarasco) Nation is internationally sought after as a breakdancer and creative urban street dancer – he’s even represented the US in a performance for the Royal Jordanian family in Amman, Jordan. And it doesn’t stop there; acting-wise Meraz has starred in The New World (2005) with Colin Farrell and Christian Bale, Two Spirits, One Journey (2007) and New Moon and Eclipse playing hot tempered werewolf, Paul. Blimey – there’s no flies on him!
