Top ten fictional computer games in movies

Think today’s video games are addictive? Well they’ve got nothing on their fictional counterparts from the fantastical world of films. These cyber realities offer much more than the likes of Nintendo or Electronic Arts can offer; the limitations of existing real-life technology ignored and replaced by incredible ideas that are so far-fetched and scientifically impossible as to excite even the staunchest technophobe. These futuristic concepts know no boundaries except those of a filmmaker’s imagination and so it goes in new action thriller Gamer starring Gerard Butler.
Set in a near future, Gamer introduces a world where games have become real, the current craze being one called “Slayers”, a first-person shooter in which Death Row inmates are controlled by gamers and instructed to fight to the death. Needless to say, fearless action man Kable (Butler) shows a flair for fighting and tries, not only to seize control of his bruising battles from the young gamer that commands him, but also reclaim his identity, return to his beloved family and put a stop to the bloodshed created by the game’s eccentric billionaire Ken Castle (played by Dexter’s Michael C. Hall). It’s a big ask but if anyone’s up to it it’s surely that muscle machine Butler.
And so as Kable struggles through this series of cyber clashes, we’re booting up and taking a look at some other fictional computer games from movies.
