Get Rebecca Bloomwood's look from Confessions of a Shopaholic – Part 1

Andy Sachs was the style icon of 2006. Carrie Bradshaw of 2008 and 2009 looks set to belong to one Miss Rebecca Bloomwood. The shopaholic from the movie’s title, she is the star of this year’s most fashion-conscious film which brings to the big screen the world of bestselling author Sophie Kinsella. A combination of the first two novels in her popular Shopaholic series, changes have been made in the transition from page to screen. Rebecca is no longer British; instead she’s American and as such no longer lives in Fulham trading west London for Manhattan. But these changes are superficial for Rebecca is still an uncompromising and unapologetic shopaholic.

Addicted to fashion from a young age, Rebecca haemorrhages money when it comes to clothes. And not just clothes, she’s a sucker for accessories, jewellery, handbags and shoes – you name it, if she can wear it she wants it, an insatiable appetite that dominates her life and cripples her finances.

With such an overwhelming reliance on fashion, the filmmakers realised early on that one of their most critical appointments would be the movie’s costume designer. They needed someone that could endow Rebecca’s wardrobe with energy, fun and cutting-edge style. It was a no-brainer – they called in Patricia Field.
