Posted by Team Boxwish 3 months ago
Watchmen, Avatar, New Moon, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, The Hangover – 2009 has certainly delivered some first class movie morsels, whether you want comedy, action, romance or drama and we could go on and on with the ones we’ve loved here at Team Boxwish. And so, as the year winds down, we’re taking a look back at some of the big screen adventures that we found the most inspiring, whether that is nabbing the soundtrack, reading the book or learning about the production secrets, as we answer: “What has been your most inspirational movie of 2009?”
Nic: “My most inspirational film has been 500 Days of Summer, as I immediately got hold of the soundtrack and loved it! I also really liked the film and how it was different to a stereotypical romantic comedy, just wish I could get hold of the Wesc headphones he [Joseph Gordon-Levitt] uses in the film!”

Katie: “I don’t think I’ve connected with this year’s movies as much as last year’s, but there have been some. Public Enemies encouraged me to learn more about John Dillinger and that era of American history and I keep meaning to revisit my F. Scott Fitzgerald and Roald Dahl collections after loving The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Fantastic Mr Fox. Oh, and I made sure I read The Road before the film opens next year – can’t wait!”
Follow Katie’s suggestions and get the Public Enemies DVD, the Public Enemies: The True Story of America’s Greatest Crime Wave (here in the UK and here in the US), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Book
(here in the UK and here in the US), the Fantastic Mr Fox Book and The Road Book (here in the UK and here in the US).
Ella: “When I saw Watchmen I went back and read the graphic novel straight away, and I got the graphic novel of Jennifer’s Body too which is awesome. I’ve been really inspired by Where The Wild Things Are, reading about the production and costumes before going to see it, as well as reminiscing about the book.”

Lucy: “My most inspirational film of 2009 has got to be The Twilight Saga: New Moon! It was the fan party that Katie and I went to in Battersea Park that sparked it all off; we got the real movie star treatment when we walked down the red carpet in amongst the screaming fans, the atmosphere was all very eerie – lots of smoke, Volturi and wolves – and seeing the bands from the soundtrack perform live was ace. I got far too caught up in it all screaming at the lovely Robert Pattinson and swooning over the hunky Taylor Lautner (no wonder Bella can’t make her mind up…), if there had been T-shirts for sale, I’d have definitely bought one! After seeing the film I am now hanging out to see Eclipse, I’ve even downloaded the Twilightopia.com countdown to Eclipse widget to my desktop.”

Tim: “2009 was a great year full of inspirational stuff for me. I loved the soundtracks to Slumdog Millionaire and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and have gotten hooked on production documentaries and featurettes that take you behind the scenes to see how things were done, my favourites being for Star Trek, Fantastic Mr Fox, Avatar and (again) Benjamin Button. How they made Brad Pitt look so young is just incredible!”
Follow Tim’s suggestions and get the Slumdog Millionaire Soundtrack, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Soundtrack, the Star Trek DVD, the Star Trek: The Art of the Film Book, the Fantastic Mr Fox: The Making of the Motion Picture Book, The Art of Avatar Book and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: The Making of the Motion Picture Book (here in the UK and here in the US).
Steve: “I’m not sure I’ve been overly inspired by any one movie in particular this year. There have been quite a few good films but nothing that stands out hugely. Although the film wasn’t as great as I expected the Wolverine video game was quite a novel game. I did enjoy quite a few such as Up, Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Star Trek and Taken though.”
Follow Steve’s suggestions and get the X-Men Origins: Wolverine DVD, the X-Men Origins: Wolverine Video Game (here in the UK and here in the US), the Up DVD, the Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs DVD and the Taken DVD.
