Predict the weather with the Star Wars weather forecaster
Posted by Team Boxwish 3 months ago
Here at Boxwish HQ, the weather outside is alternating between sleet (disappointing) and snow (woo hoo!) And it’s a time of year when we seem obsessed with the weather. Will it be a white Christmas? Do I need to take my umbrella? One jumper or two? The questions go on and on. But how to stay on top of the ever-changing weather? Help is at hand in the form of Star Wars weather, a fantastic site that asks you to type in your location and it reports the weather, comparing it the different planets in the Star Wars universe.
Simply state your location and the site utilises Yahoo! Weather to bring up your temperature and conditions. Currently, Boxwish HQ is -2˚C, apparently much like Hoth (the sixth planet of the remote Hoth system – thanks Wikipedia!) which is characterised by its “cold, ice, [and] freezing desolation”. Good to know.
A number of various other Star Wars planets make an appearance on the site, from Naboo (akin to L.A. being “temperate, dry and fairly pleasant”), Bespin (like Beijing, “fog, mist, cloud. Can’t see a thing”), Tattooine (“hot, dry, occasional sarlacc” as in Sydney), Yavin 4 (“hot, but with some cloud in the sky” like Rio de Janiero) and Endor (“temperate, but grey and cloudy” as in Wellington).
The creation of self-proclaimed “geek comedian”, Tom Scott, Star Wars weather adds a fun movie spin to your weather enquiries, so have a go with your hometown and have a little sci-fi chuckle!
