Jeans are jeans, right? Wrong, as these jeans are inspired by horror movies, introducing Denim Junkie. This new and novel denim label is the brainchild of brother and sister team, Emmanuel and Laura Sfez who are fervent pop culture vultures (hence the name) and wanted to express this through a premium denim brand. Talking to DenimBlog, they described their vision as “a Japanese monster Americana,” and fittingly it’s movies from both these cultures that feed into their style, specifically classic American slasher flicks and Japanese horror. Looks like we’ve found a more high fashion way to dress come Halloween, Boxwishers.

Laura and Emmanuel will be debuting their Spring 2010 collection through the family business, Red & Blue LLC (they make labels like Blue Blood and Z-Brand) and following gender lines, Laura is managing the women’s line, while her brother takes care of the men’s range.

Being a premium fashion line, it won’t be devoid of catwalk chic, utilising today’s biggest trends including skinny-style fit and acid-washes, yet all filtered through the film focus. There will be monster and movie-inspired graphics on T-shirts and hoodies, and the monster theme is touted to grow and expand even further for the Autumn 2010 collection, where we can expect a letterman jacket with “Zombieville high School” emblazoned across the back, and female jeans with a painted vampire (how very Twilight – go Team Edward!) and a male equivalent with a werewolf (how very The Twilight Saga: New Moon – go Team Jacob!)

Our whistle is officially whetted and already a number of top stores, such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s and Planet Funk have signed up to retail them. No news as yet on if or when this brand might be hitting UK shores, but it definitely sounds like we’ve got an exciting and unique new contender on the fashion front that really opens up the connection between style and cinema.

What next – shoes modelled on musicals? Sports clothes based on action blockbusters or pyjamas inspired by rom-coms? The possibilities are endless…
