Their songs have turned up in everything from Seven Pounds to Swordfish and they’ve recently become the unofficial band of The Twilight Saga with tracks contributed to both Twilight and New Moon, yet rock band Muse are yet to write a movie soundtrack. But that could soon all change as the three-piece from Devon have been approached to provide the musical backdrop to action remake, Clash of the Titans starring Avatar hot property Sam Worthington and a supporting cast that boasts Gemma Arterton, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes. Do we think singer Matt Bellamy’s falsetto voice and Hendrix-inspired guitar work suits the sword and sandals blockbuster?

Talking to the Daily Star, frontman Bellamy revealed: “It’s something we’re up for doing – it’s just a case of timing because we’re always on tour [they begin the Far East and Australia leg of their “The Resistance” tour tomorrow which began in Finland last October and isn’t due to finish until September in London]. Clash of the Titans is the first interesting offer we’ve had for film work,” he continues. “We’re definitely interested in writing for films at some point when we get a break from being on the road.”

Respected and perhaps best known as a live act, time off the road doesn’t seem to last long for Muse but the prospect of them taking their almost operatic style of arena rock into movies is very exciting. However, we suspect that something as rough and ready as Clash of the Titans might not best suit their style. Perhaps a Bond song would be a better choice? But they’d have to see off Susan Boyle first…
