Buying a gift for a Twilight fan this Christmas? On the one hand, there’s absolutely oodles of merchandise inspired by the Stephenie Meyer saga and plenty of available wardrobe and props as seen being worn and used by Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and co., (check out our range here), but on the other, it’s difficult to know where to start. Okay, so it’s a given that the Twifan in your life already owns the books, but what of the other Twilight gear? Well, we’ve found something that we think will excite even the most merchandise-heavy Twifan – a Southwestern dreamcatcher, just like the one Jacob (Taylor Lautner) gives to Bella (Kristen Stewart) for her birthday.

Bella looks to ward off nightmares with the dreamcatcher, putting it at the head of her bed (although its powers don’t last long). Look closely and you’ll even notice that one of its hanging decorations is a little silver wolf – a neat touch considering it comes from Jacob.

Sadly, the onscreen one was an original and so isn’t obtainable, however we’ve found one that is a dead ringer which features a centre spiral and is decorated with coloured wooden beads, leather accents and feathers (absent from Bella’s, but a majority of dreamcatchers come with this feature).

On the creation of the movie version, New Moon’s propmaster, Ellen Freund reveals: “The prop was created in parts. The grapevine frame and web was woven by a woman in Wisconsin. It was chosen for its unusual and relatively complex design. The beading was added locally by Jenny McDonnell. Jenny also designed the deerskin pouch the dreamcatcher was carried in. The silver wolf cast was by a local Vancouver artist.”

So, if you know someone in need of a break from night horrors or is just looking to emulate the look of Bella’s bedroom, get the Southwestern Dreamcatcher.
