Chart-topper Leona Lewis tipped for Oscar success
Posted by Team Boxwish 3 months ago
Not content with breaking records in the world of pop music, international chart-topper Leona Lewis could be clutching a little golden naked guy come 10th March 2010 (and by that we mean an Oscar, what she gets up to in her private life is up to her). The “Bleeding Love” songstress could have two songs in the running for the Best Song category at the 82nd Academy Awards and they couldn’t be from more contrary films; one from inner-city drama, Precious, the other from big budget sci-fi extravaganza, Avatar.
Leona has contributed “Happy” (from her album “Echo”) to Precious (it’s also used in the film’s trailer) and is in very good musical company, the soundtrack also boasting the likes of fellow soul divas, Mary J. Blige and Queen Latifah; while for James Cameron’s big screen return, she’s recorded “I See You” to be played over the closing credits (as we reported recently, see Related Content, right).
It’s an impressive double-whammy, and the former The X-Factor winner has been opening up about working with Cameron. “So I went in and I did it," she recalls. "And then they played it to James and he phoned me up and said: “Oh, my God. I love you!” He’s so cool. I had this perception that he was going to be totally untouchable and unreachable. But he’s just like your nice uncle. He’s lovely.”
