For those with a hunger for haute couture, next year’s Sex and the City 2 promises to be a feast of fashion. Of course, we wouldn’t expect any less from Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her elegant allies, Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and snaps from the movie’s New York set (production has now moved to Morocco) have delivered many of the usual labels – Christian Louboutin (bag and shoes, pictured), Yves St Laurent and Christian Dior to name but three. But one designer scoring some screen time in the hugely anticipated sequel is less familiar. Introducing British designer, Holly Fulton whose designs have been chosen to adorn the fashionable frame of Carrie Bradshaw herself.

Holly, who previously worked as a design assistant at Lanvin has now struck out on her own and it’s designs from her autumn/ winter 2009-10 collection that have caught the eye of SATC’s cult costumer, Patricia Field. Four pieces were requested for the film and though she happily sent them off, Holly has no idea which will make it in front of cameras, although reports are filtering through that SJP has indeed been spotted in some Fulton designs.

On her inspirations for the collection, Holly cites Scottish sculptor and artist Eduardo Paolozzi, along with “robotic stuff and what I’m calling art deco on crack – looking at the motifs and geometry within this with a heightened sense of colour and line.” Definitely sounds quirky and original enough for Manhattan’s most fearless fashionista.

And it’s an opportunity that Holly’s excited by, revealing: “I like to associate my designs with women who are distinctive individuals and wear them in their own way, so it’s a brilliant opportunity for a new designer like myself to be associated with the phenomenon of SATC. I like to think of my designs as having luxurious connotations and with Patricia Field’s eclectic styling they could end up in the mix with any number of wondrous designer creations. SJP can easily carry off my clothes – she has a unique beauty and makes things her own, and is not afraid of a heavy dose of crystallised glamour!”

That she ain’t!
