Get Mickey O'Neil's look from Snatch

Snatch’s fashion credentials aren’t immediately obvious. Starring actors such as the late Mike Reid and drum’n’bass musician Goldie its cast list reads more like an episode of Eastenders than a glossy movie. Add to that its murky underworld London setting and its focus on criminals with names such as Bullet Tooth Tony and Brick Top and you’re light years away from haute couture. Oh, but did we mention the film stars Brad Pitt? Style points guaranteed.

The ever-popular Mr Pitt has forged a film career from parts that shouldn’t look good onscreen. There was his stoner Floyd in True Romance, his lonely blood-sucker Louis in Interview With the Vampire not to mention his soon-to-be-seen gym idiot Chad in Burn After Reading, but his Irish boxer Mickey in 2000’s Snatch could have been his biggest challenge. As a fighter, we see him beaten and bloody, while out of the ring his style is scruffy at best – hardly the classic cocktail for fashion fans. But still – it’s Brad Pitt and if anyone can turn clothes from grungy into gotta-have it’s him.

Pitt’s Mickey is an unusual mix. At times he seems incidental, before becoming central to the plot. He cheerily provides comic relief through his unintelligible slurrings, though packs an emotional punch with a dramatic scene. He appears nonchalant and carefree about everything, yet is anything but when it comes to his beloved mother. It’s a ripe bag of contradictions that continue with his appearance. Think it seems artless and dishevelled? Look again.
