Team Boxwish quizzed: If your life was an existing film, which one would it be?
Posted by Team Boxwish 5 months ago
With the excitement of Halloween now over, we’re no longer debating the merits of The Joker versus Freddy Krueger or the scariest film soundtrack in our weekly Team Boxwish blog post. Instead, we’re taking a more pragmatic approach; practically leaping onto the psychiatrist couch to look deeper into ourselves and examine the real us (guess we’ve been watching too much In Treatment). Nah, we’re just joking. There are no nasty skeletons falling out of this Boxwish closet (we keep them too well hidden for that), just the usual team musing on a new movie head-scratcher, namely: “If your life was an existing film, which one would it be?”
Katie: “Having just gotten married, until recently my life was very much like Father of the Bride with my mum assuming the role of the wedding planner, Franck, albeit without the ludicrous accent! Though I hope I didn’t put my family through as much as Steve Martin and Diane Keaton in the movie, oh and without the massive price tag.”
Ella: “I’m a total fantasist so I often wish my life was more like a film, but I can’t think of any films that are as boring as it. I guess my friends and I have a similar humour to Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in films like Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz (and TV series Spaced) because we’re always quoting films and television programmes. We’ve also got loads of in-jokes which people never really get, like their Cornetto trilogy!”
Rachael: “Has to be Sex in the City – definitely wishful thinking! On a purely material note, (there are lots of other films that are probably more closely linked to my current life, but why not fantasise once in a while?) can you imagine having all those beautiful shoes, bags, dresses, a walk in wardrobe, glamorous parties? One thing is true; I have great friends who are always there for me and a less complicated (sometimes!) Mr Big.”
Lucy: “That’s a toughie, well I’ve done a fair bit of travelling (every continent apart from the Poles, brrrr), so for that part of my life I’m going to choose Around the World in 80 Days. It’s not an entirely true representation of my travelling experiences; it’s taken more than 80 days, I’ve taken no bets and I’m not a man. Mmm. But I have met up with some weird, and possibly thieving travel companions, I’ve taken a plethora of transportation – trains, planes, boats, buses, taxis, tuk tuks, elephants, camels – come across some weird local customs (camel vodka anyone?) and had one or two hairy scrapes.”
Tim: “As much as I’d like it to be Iron Man, it’s probably closer to Rocky!”
Steve: “If my life were a film I’d want it to be Wanted. Even though I love my job at Boxwish I’d much rather be a bad-ass super assassin. I don’t think that life would really have a happy ending for me though. It’s pretty hard to be honest on this one. There aren’t really any films that glamorise being a computer nerd!”
Nic: “I don’t really think any movie reflects my life but if I wish it were like one then it would probably be Iron Man. I’d love the cool house and to be able to build robots, plus the lifestyle is pretty cool!”
