This summer has marked the return of several big screen heroes. John Connor (Christian Bale) in Terminator Salvation, Captain James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) in Star Trek, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and there’s more to come with Sam Witwicky (Shia LeBeouf) in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. However, this time last year we were all embracing a new cinematic idol first making his way in film – Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark in Iron Man. The playboy industrialist certainly stole our hearts here at Boxwish and we can’t wait until next year’s follow-up Iron Man 2. But before then we’ve set our sights on this fantastic replica of the Iron Man armour suit currently under auction on eBay.

The replica of the Mark III suit is fully life-size and wearable – just perfect for all Tony Stark wannabes (and we know there’s a lot of you out there). It comes in highly detailed armour parts consisting of the helmet, shoulders and arms, midsection, upper and lower legs and boot covers. The suit is painted in automotive red and gold paint; much of it is made from fibreglass and has “highlighted small weathering areas alongside the curves and lines of the suit to make it look more mechanical and realistic.”

Built with the wearer in mind, the seller mentions recommended sizes, though some of these are adjustable and are rough guidelines. It doesn’t come cheap, but when you’ve got a fully custom-built kick-ass Iron Man costume, you wouldn’t really expect it to (get a more budget-friendly alternative here). The auction closes on Monday, so get your bid in to snap up the ultimate in superhero togs! That’s this year’s Halloween costume sorted early.
