Next year’s much anticipated Alice in Wonderland looks set to be vintage Tim Burton. Not only is the mad-haired director reuniting with long-time onscreen stars Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter (their seventh film together) and real-life partner, Helena Bonham Carter (their sixth), but also a whole host of offscreen favourites including costume designer Colleen Atwood, editor Chris Lebenzon, producer Richard D. Zanuck and composer Danny Elfman. But while the latter will undoubtedly add the quirky, whimsical music we’ve come to expect from Burton efforts, there’s one addition to the soundtrack that’s far from expected – pop punk band, All Time Low.

The Maryland quartet met up with MTV for an interview recently to talk about their recent tour with Fall Out Boy, their new bra collection (?) and their inclusion on the Alice in Wonderland soundtrack. “Until it’s 100 percent, I’m still going to say tentative, but yes, we recorded a new song for the soundtrack,” revealed lead singer and rhythm guitarist, Alex Gaskarth. “The song definitely references ideas from the film and from the story, but I wouldn’t say that it’s obvious, but it’s in there, for sure,” he adds.

Drummer Rian Dawson echoed the excitement, calling it “a cool chance” for the band, though assured fans that it’ll stay true to their sound, while also trying something new. “Not that it’s too outside of our box,” he continues, “but it is a little bit different of a feel which is okay because it fits with the movie.”

However, the band have yet to actually see the movie (which dazzled with its second trailer released online last week and a mesmerising 3D version prefacing Avatar in cinema screenings), as the movie is being kept closely under wraps until unleashed next March. This left the lads to simply source the original Lewis Carroll story rather than Burton’s version, not that it’s dampened their enthusiasm for it in any way. And here at Boxwish we can’t wait to hear what they’ve come up with.
